He sounds lovely, RIP Mark 🙂
I can’t begin to put into words how sad I am to read this news. I met Mark thorough you Alastair and over the past 4 years he became a friend online and off. We had many late night wandering conversations. I will miss him very much. Nothing compared to your loss.
I have read two of your tributes to people I considered to be fine examples of humanity and in the best tradition of the Labour Party. My friend and the person in whom I acted as agent twice, Alan Keen and now Mark Bennett, who I first met after the death of his predecessor cllr Tim Sarjeant, my friend too. Alastair you do well in your kind and perceptive words. Each tribute has been thoughtful. Mark excelled as Mayor of Lambeth, in particular giving others voices and highlighting issues. His commitment to people undertaking citizenship ceremonies was unsurpassed. The Lambeth Youth Mayor wrote a lovely tribute tonight, perhaps you could make contact, you might find a new mentee who could eventually go on to great things. A fitting tribute to Mark and all your work.
Condolences family and friends, but don’t be shy Ali, expand, because humans do want to know more, to stop them guessing. But Christ!, yes Ali!!! 43!?!?! shite!…

Alright Al? Know it is off topic, but Laudrup down here for the Swans, shown the door. It seems to me a commitment issue, in my thinking – he I think was planning to move on this summer and it was affecting things – fights on training pitches and rubbish transfer activity in January, and so on. Hints of that classic too – “Lost the dressing room”. Ah well, things move on, yes Ali?
by the way, a big ; ) for you here…. think I have said enough already…

Wonderful tribute I didn’t know of the man but get a sense that in a small way I do now because Alastair has painted a vivid picture here, taking us right into Downing street or upstairs in his flat preparing the diaries.
Sounds like he led a very interesting life at least, rest in peace Mark.
So saddened by the death of Mark Bennett. But reading all the tributes to him has brought back many happy memories working with him in Downing Street all those years ago. RIP.
